Key InformationClimate Action Plan
Text
The Department for Education now expects all education settings to create and implement a Climate Action Plan. At Kington St Michael, our plan focuses on four key areas:
-
Adaptation and Resilience – Ensuring our school is prepared for the impacts of climate change and can operate safely and effectively in all conditions.
-
Biodiversity – Protecting and enhancing the natural environment across our school grounds.
-
Climate Education – Providing high-quality teaching that helps children understand climate change and empowers them to make a positive difference.
-
Decarbonisation – Reducing the school’s carbon footprint through energy efficiency, sustainable choices, and long-term planning.
This year, we will be working closely with our Eco team, staff, families and the wider school community to develop and implement a meaningful and achievable Climate Action Plan.
Caring for the environment is an important part of the day to day life of our school. We encourage the children to think about electricity and water usage and take pride in looking after the school grounds.
Our families have been able to make a real difference to our local environment through a littler picking adventure. Armed with high-vis jackets, litter pickers and huge smiles, the children set out to make Kington St Michael village sparkle and they certainly delivered. Bag after bag of rubbish was collected with some even sorted for recycling, proving how small hands can make a big impact.
