Collective worship is an important part of the school day at Kington St Michael Church of England Primary School. It is a special time where we come together to worship and reflect on our school vision and values. We want to make the most of our opportunities in Collective Worship; developing our children’s spirituality and their understanding, awareness and appreciation of those messages and beliefs founded through our faith and the value we have for all around us.
At KSM our Collective Worship aims to be inclusive, invitational and inspiring.
Through Collective Worship, we aim to give the children opportunities:
-
To recognise the place Christian faith has in the lives of people
-
Develop a sense of wonder, awe, curiosity and mystery
-
Understand the difference between right and wrong and the consequences of their actions for themselves and for others
-
Be creative, questioning and imaginative within a broad Christian framework that recognises the importance of experience, personal values and respect for the beliefs of others
-
Recognise, respect and celebrate cultural diversity
-
See the relevance of Christian tradition in their own lives
-
To be part of the planning process for Collective Worship so it is meaningful to them
Pupil participation and pupil voice is an important part of our collective worship. Our KS2 Worship Council make a significant contribution to our Collective Worship and Church festivals. Our School Worship Team write a prayer to begin Governor Meetings.
