We are delighted to share some photographs from Blackbirds Class first Forest School session last week. The children had a fun filled morning exploring the outdoors, working together, and learning new skills.

They gathered round to light a fire, learning about safety and team work as they helped prepare their own snack of delicious hot chocolate and a biscuit. The children then had the opportunity to experience nature inspired craft and exploration. They built habitats for woodland creatures, made colourful leaf bunting to decorate the shelter and created conker fireworks that added a festive touch to autumn (if you look carefully, you may still see one or two in the trees!!)

The mud kitchen was one of the highlights where imagination ran wild and muddy concoctions were served It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork, and curiosity throughout the session!

Help us Grow our Forest School!

Over the next year we would love to continue to develop our dedicated area for regular Forest School sessions and continue to look for resources.

We need:

  • Big branches and tarpaulin for den building

  • Large logs for climbing and seating

  • Wooden toys for outdoor play

  • Garden trowels

  • Utensils for the mud kitchen

  • Butter knives for whittling

If anyone is felling or pruning a large tree, please let us know - Sycamore, Hazel and Ash are particularly good for crafting and would be greatly appreciated.

Any help or donations would make a big difference and are warmly welcomed. Please contact the school office if you have anything that you think may be useful.
